Hendrick Hudson High School Commencement Ceremony

CORTLANDT, N.Y.-- The commencement ceremony for Hendrick Hudson High School was held Sunday at Purchase College’s Performing Art Center. The ceremony included a video and photo slideshow compiled by Leah Galant. Female graduates wore white, while male graduates wore sailor blue.

“It’s one of those classes that you’re sad to see go,” said Alice Gottlieb, assistant superintendent for curriculum and personnel, “It’s always kind of bittersweet, because it ends the school year and we’re all ready for a rest, yet we’re sending these kids off.”

A video by Leah Galant, was made of pictures and videos submitted by the entire class. Music was set to some parts of the video, including “Good Riddance,” by Green Day. According to Valedictorian Jeffrey White, the video represented a “great cross section of our class.”

“It was really interesting to see how much people had changed,” White said. Many of the students graduating on Sunday had attended school together since kindergarten, and the video included pictures from all 12 years of the class’ education. “There were tears in my eyes seeing all my friends who grown up … It was fun to look back at all the good times we’ve had,” said White.
