CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Here are some of the stories that topped the news in Cortlandt, Buchanan and Croton this week:
- A Cortlandt resident and former youth basketball coach pleaded guilty to three counts of predatory sexual assault of a child on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
- A burglar was allegedly caught in the act by a Croton youth after coming home on the afternoon of Dec. 12, but escaped with a large bag of stolen items.
- A 69-year old cyclist was hit by a vehicle near the entrance of the Croton Dam on Route 29.
- The Montrose Fire Department extinguished a fire Thursday morning at the Bethel Springvale Inn, a Croton assisted living facility.
- SafeWise, a home and community security company, has ranked Cortlandt among the top 50 safest towns in New York.
