CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Area firefighters battled torrential rainfall and heavy flames at a one-story house fire Sunday night at 35 North 4th St. in the Quarry Acres section of Cortlandt.
Mohegan Lake firefighters, assisted by crews from Buchanan, Peekskill and Verplanck, discovered fire throughout the structure when they arrived about 8:45 p.m.
A ladder truck was utilized by Mohegan to fight the fire and heavy smoke could be seen coming from the roof on the left side of the home.
Reportedly a firefighter was injured at the scene and required attention from EMS, although the injury did not appear to be serious. No information was available as to the cause of the blaze or the condition of any occupants of the home.
