Croton Farmer's Market Open Despite Warning

Severe weather warnings by the National Weather Service didn’t detour shoppers at the first day of the Croton Farmer's Market. The market offered everything it had planned on, from live music to new vendors. The market continues into the evening, ending at 6:30 p.m.

Local group Deuces Child performed songs at the local farmer's market. The afternoon crowd at the farmer's market in Croton is generally a little more lightly attended than the evening crowd, “commuters usually stop by,” said one of the market organizers Stella Quin.

“Part of the goal this season,” said Quin, “is to build the market into more of a community gathering space.” This year’s schedule includes demonstrations by local chefs, a space for local businesses to demonstrate their product and new vendors.

Some vendors which will be part of the market but will arrive at a later date include an artisanal chocolate maker, and a Greek woman who presses her own olive oil.
