Crompond Road Business Reports $800 Missing

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – The owner of a business on Crompond Road reported to Westchester County Police that someone stole $800 in cash stored in a locked pouch in a file cabinet drawer. The zippered pouch, which is secured by a lock, was cut open at the bottom and the cash was removed.  An investigation is continuing. The event was reported Feb. 22, around 5:30 p.m.

In other police news:

Treasure Hunting A resident of Cynthia Road reported to Westchester County Police that youths were in the woods nearby possibly smoking or drinking. An officer located several youths who were checking on a geocache they had placed there as part of a treasure hunting game. The incident was reported at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Suspicious Vehicle A resident of Oregon Road reported a suspicious vehicle was parked in the lot of a deli that was closed for the day.  The vehicle was gone upon an officer’s arrival. The incident was reported at about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

Credit Card Fraud A resident of Skylark Road reported that someone has tried to make unauthorized purchases of iTunes on her credit card. An investigation is continuing. The incident was reported on Tuesday, Feb. 21, just before 3 p.m.

Unsecured Window Westchester County Police received a report of an open window at the rear of Walter Panas High School on Croton Avenue.  An officer located the open window but determined that no entry had been made to the school. A school district employee went into the school and locked the window from the inside. The incident was reported a little before 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20.
