County Clerk to Process Passports in Cortlandt

CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Local residents will be able to have their passport applications processed next month at Cortlandt Town Hall.

The community outreach staff of Westchester County Clerk Tim Idoni will be in Cortlandt on Tuesday, April 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. As of June 1, 2009, anyone over the age of 16 is required to have a passport to enter the United States by air, land or sea, unless another travel document has been approved by the Department of Homeland Security.

The fee for an adult passport is $135 and $105 for a child passport. Fees can be paid by money order, check or credit card. The mobile office cannot accept cash. Applications will also be accepted for the U.S. Passport Card for land and sea border travel. The fee for that card is $55 for adults and $40 for children.

Passport photos can also be taken for $10. Passport applications normally take approximately four to six weeks to be completed. Expedited service that will cut that time in half is available for $60 for each passport.

Acceptable identification is a previous U.S. passport, certified copy of a birth certificate or a valid driver's license or government issued identification card.

For further information, call the Passports and Licensing Division at (914) 995-3086 or visit the Westchester clerk's website.
