Cortlandt Man Charged With Attempted Murder

CORTLANDT, N.Y.-- The Westchester District Attorney's Office has charged a Cortlandt man with attempted murder in the second degree, according to officials.

Mario Vallorosi, 76, was arraigned on Thursday with one count of attempted murder and two counts of assault in the second degree. All charges were related to the shotgun shooting of his 74-year-old wife, the D.A.'s office said. 

Vallorosi allegedly shot his wife in their home in Cortlandt on July 15 at approximately 4 a.m, officials said. 

Vallorosi's wife spent 45 days in the hospital as a result of her wounds and remains in serious condition at a nursing facility, the D.A.'s office said. 

Vallorosi faces a maximum of 25 years in state prison. His next court date is scheduled for Dec. 5.
