The fireworks originally were set for July 28 as the cap to the day's festivities at George’s Island. However, the display had to be canceled due to an evening rainstorm.

The fireworks are now set for Sept. 7, the same day as the annual Cortlandt Family Fun Day, which will be off Memorial Drive next to the Cortlandt Youth Center and the Cortlandt Train Station. Cortlandt Family Fun Day events begin at noon and continue until 4 p.m. They will be followed by musical bands and end with the fireworks display.

Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi said it's exciting to be part of such an historic celebration.

"There has been a committee of 20 residents and staff members who have been working since January of this year to make the town's birthday party spectacular," Puglisi said in a press release. "I thank them all of their hard work and dedication. I am very proud to be supervisor of our wonderful town."
