Cortlandt Broker Accused of Stealing $130,000

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A former securities broker from Cortlandt Manor could face a maximum of 15 years in state prison, according to the Westchester County District Attorney, after being arraigned on two felony charges of grand larceny in Cortlandt Town Justice Court Monday morning.

The DA said two clients lodged complaints with the DA that Tamalyn Crutchfield Stewart, 57, of East Mount Airy Road, Cortlandt Manor, used $130,000 intended for investment for personal expenses.

The victims reported giving the money to Stewart between Feb. 24, 2010 and Sept. 15, 2010 in the amounts of $100,000 from one client and $30,000 from another, the DA said.

The victims’ complaints began an investigation into Stewart June of 2011, the DA said. She was arrested by an investigator for the DA Monday morning.  Bail was set at $100,000 cash or bond.

Assistant District Attorney Nicole Gamble of the Economic Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case.
