Blood Drive Slated In Memory Of Cortlandt Woman

CONTINENTAL VILLAGE, N.Y. - This Tuesday would have been Erin Dunne's 22nd birthday.

Dunne died March 27, 2006, less than two years after her right lung collapsed and she was diagnosed with end stage lung disease. Dunne spent 279 days in the hospital and died awaiting a double lung transplant at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.

Since Dunne's death, a blood drive has been held annually in her memory. This year's sixth annual event will be held Tuesday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Continental Village Clubhouse at 49 Highland Drive.

The blood drive will be administered by the New York Blood Center. Anyone interested in donating blood is encouraged to eat well and drink fluids prior to showing up. An identification with a photo or signature is required.

Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, contact Sheila Littleton at (914) 382-1825. It takes about 40 minutes to donate a pint of blood.
