Birdsall House Beer Garden Open In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL -- The Birdsall House's outdoor beer garden is now open for business. Owner John Sharpe anounced the garden's completion on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.

The beer garden is modeled after popular gardens in New York City, he said. "In the city they're popping up quite a bit," Sharpe said. "When I lived in the city I used to go to the Bohemian Beer Garden in Queens. That was bigger than mine but ours is the same scale, a huge area where many people can hang out at a time and there a little nooks and crannies you can hang out in and find privacy."

"We've been working on it for close to a year just getting the approvals and the lease squared away," Sharpe said. "The last few weeks we've been working hard putting a [side] door into the building putting jn the concrete patio and landscaping."

Since opening last year, the Birdsall House has made a name for itself with its regional craft beer selection and farm-to-table menu. "We get all our meats from here in Cortlandt at Hemlock Hills Farm and all our produce from the Hudson Valley," Sharpe said. "It's a very chef-driven menu with everything made from scratch all the way down to the condiments." The Birdsall House plans to have a grand opening party in late July, Sharpe said. "We're going to do a lot of festivities around the Jazz festival so we'll have music and grilling outside," Sharpe said. "I'm sure we'll have a [local] brewer come down so we can highlight them."

Birdsall House is located at 970 Main Street. Call (914) 930-1800 or go to their website here for more information.
