An Explosive Fourth in Peekskill

PEEKSKILL -- After the absence of a parade last year due to the down economy, the city's parade will return with the annual fireworks display on July Fourth, courtesy of the Peekskill Fire Department.

The day's festivies will start at 10 a.m. with a parade starting on Highland Avenue that will run down Division Street, South Street and Hudson Avenue before ending at Railroad Avenue.

After the parade there will be a laying of wreaths at the World Trade Center steel memorial in Riverfront Green Park in recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Green Park. Attendees are encouraged to donate $1 per person on entry toward 2012 fireworks and parade costs, which are paid for through the fundraising efforts of the Peekskill Fire Department.

A patriotic concert will be provided by the Peekskill Parks and Recreation Department starting at 7 p.m. Food and beverage vendors will also be on hand from 4 p.m.until the fireworks begin.
