VERPLANCK, N.Y. - Jean "Sis" Bleakley Harkins, a longtime resident of Verplanck, died Jan. 12 at Skyview Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Croton-on-Hudson. She was 88.
Born in Verplanck of Feb. 4, 1923, she was the daughter of Frank and Jean Bleakley. She was married to the late Arthur Harkins Sr. and was the mother of five. Harkins was said to have dedicated her life to her family, especially enjoying spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Betty Jean O'Mara, Eileen (Bob) Wiese, Maureen (Charles) Eichler and Marlene (Bill) Senik, her son Arty (Krissy) Harkins, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Cortlandt Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Church of the Assumption in Peekskill, followed by interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Verplanck.
