Cortlandt Woman is Guiding Eyes' New VP for Marketing and Development

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Guiding Eyes for the Blind has promoted it's director of planned giving, Sue Dishart, to vice president for marketing and development.

Dishart, a Cortlandt resident, will lead the organizations One Step Ahead campaign-- an initiative which aims to raise $8 million to help the organization build a world-class training academy at its branch in Patterson, N.Y. The non-profit organization expects the academy to set the standard for guide dog organizations throughout the U.S. and abroad and will enable Guiding Eyes to help thousands more people in need.

“I joined the Guiding Eyes family three years ago and the experience has been completely humbling and life-changing,” Dishart said. “I’m looking forward to continuing our department’s phenomenal work and furthering the mission of Guiding Eyes by raising awareness in exciting, new ways.”

Dishart is the former vice president of fund development and partnerships at Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson. She is a member of the International Advisory Committee for The Mountain Institute and also serves as an advisor and volunteer for local and international non-governmental organizations. Additionally, Dishart is a member of the Association of Development Officers, Business Council of Westchester, and the Westchester County Association.

“Sue has been an invaluable member of Guiding Eyes in both her professional role and as a volunteer puppy raiser,” said Bill Badger, the organization’s president and CEO who made the announcement. “I am confident that her selfless dedication to our organization will result in even more lives changed by our elite guide dogs and continued funding so that we may remain a global leader in guide dog training.”
