Ferreira, Former Croton Teamster, Dies at 86

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Louis A. Ferreira Jr. of Croton-on-Hudson died March 21 at the age of 86. 

He was born April 6, 1925 in Fall River, Mass. to Louis and Mary Pavao Ferreira. During World War II, Ferreira served in the US Navy on the USS Wickes. He worked as a teamster for Local 456 for many years. 

Ferreira was predeceased by his wife Joyce and his son William. He is survived by his sons Robert (Linda), Richard (Theresa), Louis III (Dianne), his daughters Bonnie, Mary (Thomas) Ferreira-Meier, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Leach & Thomas Funeral Home in Ossining. The funeral mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Ann’s Church in Ossining followed by burial St. Augustine’s Cemetery in Ossining.
