Croton Creek Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Croton Falls
What Makes It A Cut Above: The steakhouse, which recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, gets its meat from NYC's Gansevoort Market. Co-Owner Jim Stake said he and his partner/co-owner Liam Harvey always chuckle after customers tell them their steak tastes as good as -- if not better - than Peter Luger's. "We get our meats at the same place," said Stake. He and Harvey, in fact, travel to the Market weekly to pick up the meat and hand deliver it to Croton.
Mainly, he said, what makes their steaks so good is the quality -- it's natural, prime beef.
Croton Creek, he added, is more than just a steakhouse. One of its biggest sellers is the swordfish steak -- the "steak of the sea," said Stake. The eatery is also known for its live music, held Tuesday to Saturday, and for its extensive brunch menu.
