CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Here are some of our picks for events happening in the area this weekend.

Friday, June 29

Pick A Craft: 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Drop in at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library any time in the late afternoon and choose something to make from a large assortment of craft kits. Choices range from tooth-fairy boxes to Hawaiian leis and holiday crafts. This event is for children 5 to 9 years old. Call (914) 739-5654 for information. Second Wind and Guests: 7 p.m. Croton's Summer Concert Series in Senasqua Park hosts Second Wind, a band that performs both unplugged and classic rock. Contact the Croton Recreation Department for more information at (914)-271-3006.

Saturday, June 30

Pond Life: 11 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Grab a net and join in as kids scoop to find what’s mucking about at Teatown Lake Reservation. For children ages 6 to 10 and accompanied by an adult. Admission is free for members, $5 for non-members. Call to make a reservation at (914) 762-2912 ext. 110, Teatown Lake Reservation is located at 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining, N.Y.

Pirates of the Hudson: The Siege of Sleepy Hollow: Timed entry begins at 2 p.m. Gangs of swashbuckling pirates will take over Philipsburg Manor. Musical pirates and scallywags of all sorts roam the grounds, looking to pick a pocket or two. Kids can take part in the Pieces of Eight Treasure Hunt, wiggle their way into a pirate shipwreck, trade barbs with a clever, talkative parrot and learn to speak and act like a pirate, among many other activities. Adults can enjoy beer from Elmsford's Captain Lawrence Brewery. Purchase tickets in advance online at HudsonValley.org, or call (914) 631-8200. Sunday, July 1

Movies for Kids: Ghostbusters: The Jacob Burns Film Center presents "Ghostbusters" at 12 p.m. Admission is $11 for adults, and $6.50 for children 12  and younger. The theater is located at 364 Manville Road, Pleasantville, N.Y.  Call (914) 747-5555 for more information.

Music at West Point - "The Magic of Broadway:" 7:30 p.m. Selections will be performed from some of the most legendary musicals ever to grace Broadway stages. The concert will take place at West Point’s scenic outdoor Trophy Point Amphitheater; however, Eisenhower Hall Theatre will serve as the site in case of inclement weather.
