Monday, Aug. 13

Cortlandt Town Board Work Session: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board will hold an in-depth discussion of current events in the town. Public comments are not regularly allowed at work sessions. The meeting will take place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

Village of Croton Planning Board: 8 p.m. The Village of Croton Planning Board will hold a regular meeting to discuss development in the village. The public will likely be able to comment at this meeting. The meeting will take place at 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Cortlandt Town Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Cortlandt Town Board will hold a regular meeting to take legislative action. A portion of the meeting will be devoted to public comments. The meeting will take place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

Cortlandt Zoning Board of Appeals: 7 p.m. The Cortlandt Zoning Board of Appeals will meet to discuss current zoning issues in the town. The meeting will take place at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt Manor.

Book and a Blanket: 6:30 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library is calling on all knitters and crocheters to participate in a program which will donate hand-stitched blankets to newborns at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center. The library will provide yarn for the projects and simple patterns to choose from. The event takes place in the library lounge, at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. All projects will be donated to the hospital; no registration is necessary.

Thursday, Aug. 16

Zumba Nights: 5:30 p.m. The dance-fitness program based on international musical rhythms is coming to the Hendrick Hudson Free Library. Register to dance your cares and calories away in the high-energy, six-week class with professional dance instructor Suzi Myers. All fitness levels are welcome; please wear comfortable clothes. Call 914-739-5654 to register or visit the library at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose.

From a Child's Perspective: 10 a.m. Every Thursday in July and August families can take a trip back to the 19th century with Washington Irving Sunnyside. Play games, hear stories, race through a scavenger hunt and participate in hands-on-activities, including a new craft each week. Bring a picnic and enjoy a full day. Tickets are $6 for children ages 3 to 17, $10 for seniors and $12 for adults. Admission is free for members and children under 3 years old. This event takes place at 3 W. Sunnyside Lane, Irvington.
