Audubon Morning Hike and Yoga on New Year's Day

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – While many local businesses are closed on Jan. 1, there are still many New Year’s Day events to enjoy. Ring in the New Year with a morning hike through Rockwood Hall State Park with the Sawmill River Audubon, or see wolf pups at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Morning Yoga iHARTyoga at the Energy Movement Center in Peekskill will have an 11 a.m. Vinyasa yoga class on New Year’s Day. All ages are welcome and the drop-in cost is $20 for the hour and a half class. The studio is located at 125 South St., Peekskill.

Flat Iron Gallery Group Show This group show is curated by Wendy Garber and takes place in the upper gallery of the historic Paramount Theater in Peekskill. The show can be viewed during daytime business hours inside the theater or during intermission of live performances. New Year’s Day marks the opening of the show, which will run through Jan. 21. The Paramount Theater is located at 1008 Brown St., Peekskill.

Morning Hike The Sawmill River Audubon will host a 9 a.m. hike through Rockwood Hall State Park in Sleepy Hollow. Be sure to dress warm, the temperature is predicted to hover in the 30s. Ages 8 and up are welcome and a $5 donation is suggested. To register, call (914) 666-6503 or email office@sawmillriveraudubon.org.

Howl in the New Year Kids will learn about the mythology surrounding wolves and will see 8-month-old Alawa and Sephyr, the Wolf Conservation Center’s two pups preparing for their first winter season. Pre-registration is required for this event and admission is $13. The event starts at 11 a.m. The Wolf Conservation Center is located at 7 Buck Run, South Salem.
