Arts and Crafts Shows Around Cortlandt

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – The first weekend in November hosts two arts and crafts shows, and various crafts workshops. As a sense of normalcy returns to life for Cortlandt residents, along with power, an outing from the house may be in order.

Saturday, November 5

Arts and Crafts Show at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Croton. This craft show features local artists and artisans and there is no admission fee. There will be everything from ceramics to homemade soaps. The Unitarian Universalist Church is located at 2021 Albany Post Road, Croton-on-Hudson.

Croton Free Fall Craft Show There will be a craft show in the Ottinger Room of the Croton Free Library, on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The boutique will donate a portion of the proceeds to the library’s fundraising campaign. All the artisans are Croton-based, there will be everything from handmade jewelry from Rutheny’s to Japanese paper art and oil paintings.

Candle and Soap Making Workshop Muscoot Farm hosts this workshop. Candlemaking runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., preregistration is required, the class is $20. Soap making begins at 12:30 p.m. and runs until 3:30 p.m., preregistration is required, and costs $45. The workshop fee is reduced to $60 is you sign up for both workshops. Giant Penny Social This Penny Social will be held at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center on Westbrook Drive in Cortlandt. The social benefits “Little Orphan Animals.” Doors open at 5 p.m., call (914) 734-2989 for more information.

Sunday, November 6

U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors From Washington D.C., this group of musicians will offer a free performance at Peekskill Middle School, at 3 p.m. The Jazz Ambassadors presents a diverse program of big band swing, Latin music, contemporary jazz, popular tunes, standards, Dixieland, and patriotic selections. Make a Wish Run Help raise money to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in the Hudson Valley. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Franklin D.
