Top Stories 2012: Businesses Move Into Cortlandt

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Businesses have come and gone from Cortlandt in 2012, together, they made our top stories of 2012.

Big Lots moved into Cortlandt and opened just before the holiday shopping rush. The former Circuit City location had been vacant for approximately four years before the discount department store opened its doors.

A Spanish restaurant, Sala On Hudson, moved into Croton. The space used to belong to Tapas 44, which also sat vacant for years before new owners moved in.

Famous Footwear moved into the Cortlandt Town Center and becoming the third shoe store in the shopping center.

Rite Aid Pharmacy surprised many residents by announcing it would shutter its Mohegan Lake location. Employees who wished to keep their jobs were relocated.

Finally, proposals for a Wal-Mart Supercenter across the street from the Cortlandt Town Center became moot when town center property owners, Acadia Realty, purchased the 36-acre lot in August.
