Airborne Car Crashes Into Home In Region, Police Say An out-of-control car that went airborne after hitting an embankment struck a home in the region. The incident took place in Dutchess County around 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 30 on Route 9G in the town of Red Hook. According to Red Hook Police, the crash took place when a 2002 Subaru driven by a 41-year-old Catskills man was driving south on Walkers Hill Road when the car crossed into the northbound lane, struck an embankment, became airborne, and hit the home. The incident took place in Dutchess County on Monday, July 3 on Route 9G near the intersection of Lasher Road in the town of Red Hook. Red Hook Police said officers responded to a call for help after the driver found himself trapped on the roof of his SUV which was partially submerged in a creek with fast-moving water. House Destroyed After Massive Fire Breaks Out In Region Several fire departments battled a Hudson Valley house fire that destroyed the large home while having to bring in water due to the lack of fire hydrants. The fire took place in Dutchess County in Rhinebeck on Kipp Road around 11:30 p.m., Saturday, May 21. According to the Rhinebeck Fire Department, first arriving firefighters from both Hillside and Rhinebeck found the 2,000-square-foot house fully engulfed in flames.
