Albany Police were called at around 7:45 p.m. Friday, June 14, for a robbery near Washington and Lexington avenues. Officers found a 22-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound to her back. She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An investigation found that the victim was sitting with two others at the bus stop near Western Avenue and Sprague Place when two men approached them, one armed with a knife. Black Bear Removed From Tree In Capital District Park Authorities removed a black bear that climbed up a tree in a Capital District park Tuesday, May 31. The bear was first spotted wandering in Albany through Washington Park, near State Street and Sprague Place, at around 5:30 a.m., according to Albany Police spokesperson Steve Smith. Officers eventually spotted the animal in a tree, prompting the closure of State Street from Sprague Place to Henry Johnson Boulevard, Smith said.
