Man From Region Nabbed For Attempted Rape A lengthy undercover operation has led to the arrest of a Hudson Valley man for attempted rape and other charges. After completing the five-week investigation, New York State Police say it determined Putnam County resident Ravi Masand, age 46, traveled in his vehicle from his residence located in the hamlet of Mahopac to Orange County with the intention to meet a 10-year-old Middletown girl to engage in various sexual acts.  Masand planned to produce, sell, and distribute sex videos and images of the girl, said police. The incidents took place in Ulster County on Saturday, July 15, at a home in the town of Shawangunk.  An investigation revealed that Ulster County resident Ronald Paul Dean, age 26, of the hamlet of Wallkill, sexually assaulted an individual at the home, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. Saratoga County resident Philip Spergel, of Clifton Park, was arrested Friday, March 3, according to State Police. It followed an investigation that began in October 2022, when troopers received a complaint about alleged inappropriate sexual contact between a person under the age of 17 and an unknown man.
