NY Broadcasting Pioneer William O’Shaughnessy Dies
William O’Shaughnessy, a broadcasting pioneer in New York, died at his home in Connecticut on Saturday, May 28. He was 84. O'Shaughnessy was owner and president of Whitney Radio, which owns and operates WVOX in Westchester County. A 1999 New York Times profile described O'Shaughnessy as "a flamboyant figure, a tall man with bright silver hair and a penchant for London-made suits and Corvette convertibles." A 12-year-old Boy Scout is on the mend after an encounter with a black bear left him with minor injuries, ABC7 reports. Henry Ayers told the outlet he was with his troop from Cooperstown camping at Harriman State Park, located in both Rockland and Orange counties, Sunday, May 1, when he awoke to a sharp pain in his leg. "I look up and it was a giant bear,” Ayers told ABC7. “I thought it was a nightmare. It was honestly crazy. I didn't think I was awake." NY Man Accused Of Secretly Filming Family Members Given Probation
A Westchester County man was given one-year probation prior to sentencing after pleading guilty to one count of unlawful surveillance for videotaping family members in a bathroom after officials failed to read him his Miranda rights. Andrew P. Amodeo, of West Harrison, was given the reduced sentence in the Otsego County Court in upstate New York after it was discovered that an investigator in the Westchester district attorney's office failed to read him his Miranda warnings as required, said Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl.
