School Counselor, Youth Coach In Capital Region Took 'Compromising' Photos Of Child, Police Say
A middle school guidance counselor is among two people from the region who are accused of secretly taking inappropriate photos of a child.
Albany County residents Kristy Koldis, age 45, and Joshua White, age 46, both of Latham, were arrested Friday, July 28, after troopers were tipped off that inappropriate pictures of a child were being shared online.
Investigators determined that the pair had taken photos of a child without their knowledge while the victim was in “compromising positions,” according to New York State Police.

A 74-year-old man from the region is facing charges for allegedly sexually abusing a minor, authorities said.
Rensselaer County resident Perry Ransford, of Troy, was arrested Monday, July 3, following a joint investigation by the Troy Police Department and other agencies that spanned several months.
According to investigators, Ransford raped a 13-year-old girl who visited his Troy apartment, located on 6th Avenue, in February 2023.
The two had no prior relationship with one another, police said.

A Hudson Valley mother who was caught on video smoking marijuana while she was driving and allegedly sharing it with juveniles has been charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Ulster County resident Kayla M. Walls, age 39, of Saugerties, was arrested on Tuesday, April 4 for the incident which took place on Tuesday, March 25.
According to Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra, an investigation established that Walls took four juveniles, ages 12 and 13, for a ride in her car.

Man Charged With Sex Abuse Of Minor In Region, State Police Say
New York State Police are asking any possible victims of a man who was charged with alleged sex abuse in the region to come forward.
Orange County resident James A. Grant, age 73, of Pine Bush, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 8, for sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
State police were notified on Friday, Jan. 27 that Grant touched a minor in an inappropriate manner. An investigation revealed that on Tuesday, Jan. 24, he inappropriately touched a minor under the age of 11, Nevel said.

A 33-year-old man is facing DWI charges after he was allegedly busted driving drunk on a highway with a teenager in the car, authorities said.
Troopers in Albany County stopped Evan Person, of Ozone Park, Queens, at around 2 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, for a vehicle and traffic violation as he drove on I-87 in the town of Bethlehem, according to State Police.
During their interaction, troopers determined that Person was intoxicated. Testing revealed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.10 percent, police said.

A high school teacher in the region is facing charges after allegedly sending sexually suggestive messages to a minor, authorities said.
Rensselaer County resident Peter Bertram, age 43, of the Village of Nassau, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 17, following an investigation by State Police.
Investigators determined that Bertram, who teaches at Averill Park High School in Rensselaer, sent “indecent and sexually suggestive” images and text messages to a child under the age of 17.

A routine traffic stop turned into a DWI arrest after the driver was allegedly found to be intoxicated while driving with his 12-year-old child.

Two women from the Capital Region are facing charges after allegedly selling marijuana to teenagers, leading to one of them getting sick.
State Police in Rensselaer County began investigating on Thursday, Dec. 15, after receiving a referral from Child Protective Services reporting that a child under the age of 15 became ill after smoking marijuana, the agency said.
