Know A Spot? ‘Best NY Burger’ Competition Taking Nominations The battle of the burgers is back. Nominations are open for the New York Beef Council’s eighth annual “Best New York Burger” competition. Hopeful restaurateurs and their dedicated followers have until Friday, March 1 to toss their names into the running. Voting will take place between Wednesday, March 6 and Monday, April 1. The top 10 burger joints will then get an anonymous visit from judges sometime during the month of April. Best Burgers: Eatery In Region Makes Final 4 In Statewide Competition For the second year in a row, a Hudson Valley restaurant has made the "final four" for the best burger in New York. Last year, Orange County staple Ben's Fresh, located in Port Jervis, took home the prize for the "People's Choice" award, but did not win the overall Best Burger honor, which went to Ale 'n' Angus Pub in Syracuse for the second straight year.  This year, Ben's is going for the top spot of Best Burger. These Eateries In Top 10 For Statewide NY Best Burger Contest The New York Beef Council has announced the top 10 contenders for the best burger in the state. The organization announced the top 10 burgers on Monday, April 18, and said voting would end on Sunday, April 24. An Orange County restaurant, Ben's Fresh, which is located in Port Jervis, made the list with its "Benny Burger," and Illusive Restaurant & Bar, located in Rensselaer, also was voted among the top eateries for its "The Empire Smash Burger."
