Party City Going Out Of Business, Closing All 800 Stores, Including 42 In NY
The party is over for a popular chain store that's been in business for decades.
Party City is “winding down” operations immediately at its approximately 800 locations, CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees in a video call on Friday, Dec. 20, CNN reports.
Workers were told they will not receive severance pay, and that their benefits would end as the company goes out of business, CNN says.
The company, headquartered in in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, is running low on cash and unable to pay rent in some locations, according to an earlier Bloomberg report.

New York State Police announced the arrest of Ron D. Vandenburgh, 36, of Latham, on Tuesday, Dec. 17, following a warrant for his alleged involvement in a burglary and theft in Halfmoon.

Former Corrections Officer From Region Sentenced For Tampering With Records, Harassment
A former Rockland County corrections officer has been sentenced to probation after admitting to falsifying records and exposing himself to a female inmate while on duty, prosecutors announced.
John Kezek, 39, of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Florida, New York, was sentenced following his guilty plea to tampering with public records and official misconduct, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.
The sentencing occurred on Thursday, Dec. 19.

A coastal storm will merge with an Alberta Clipper system, bringing a mix of snow, sleet, and rain, causing slippery travel at the tail end of the workweek.
The merging of the two is expected late in the afternoon and into the evening on Friday, Dec. 20, the National Weather Service says.

A 51-year-old Hudson Valley man was nabbed for an alleged hit-and-run crash that left the victim in critical condition.
New York State Police charged Keith P. McNamara, age 51, of Kingston, on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the August crash with assault, tampering with physical evidence, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury.
State Police said an investigation determined that on Thursday, August 29, McNamara was driving the pick-up truck that struck Mark Segall, age 68, of Kingston, while he was riding his bicycle south on Route 375 in the town of Woodstock.

Woman Missing Almost 2 Weeks In Sullivan County, Sheriff Says
The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help locating a woman who has been missing for almost two weeks.
The Sheriff's Office said Gina F. Intranuovo, age 31, of Swan Lake, was last seen on Saturday, Dec. 7, wearing a blue winter coat, black pants, black boots, and a pink purse.
Intranuovo is 5-foot-6, has brown hair and eyes, and is 180 pounds.
Anyone with information concerning Intranuovo's whereabouts is urged to contact the Sheriff's Office at 845-794-7100 ext. 1.
