Some Left In The Cold In Rockland As Storm Strikes

Wednesday’s storm left several Hudson Valley households cold and in the dark as utility crews scrambled to ensure area residents could keep the lights and heat on.

In Dutchess, 21 of Central Hudson’s 118,595 customers - all in Beacon - were reporting power outages as of 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Restoration is expected by 7 p.m.

Orange & Rockland was reporting three outages that were impacting 48 customers, including 43 in Mount Hope and others in Wallkill. The utility company said the estimated time of restoration is 9:14 p.m. on Wednesday night. In Westchester, nearly 200 Con Edison customers were also temporarily without power.

Temperatures are expected to drop overnight, with a wintry mix of rain and snow. Less than an inch of snow and ice is expected to accumulate.
