Found: Orange County Woman, Age 28, Had Been Missing Since July A 28-year-old Hudson Valley woman who went missing nine-and-a-half months ago has been found. Orange County resident Heather Callas, of Port Jervis, a mother of three who was reported missing Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, by her mother, had not been seen or heard from since Saturday, July 2. Callas left voluntarily and was believed to have traveled to New York City, according to the Port Jervis Police Department. Hudson Valley Man Sentenced To Prison For Selling Guns To Undercover Agent A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to serve years in state prison and five years post-release supervision for possessing guns sold to an undercover officer. Orange County resident Daniel Cabral, age 34, of Sparrowbush, was sentenced on Thursday, Feb. 10, for illegally selling three handguns in the Town of Deerpark in July 2021, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office. In December, Cabral pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, the DA's Office said. Man Found Dead After Unoccupied Vehicle Discovered On Area Roadway A man was found dead after state police were contacted after a vehicle was found unoccupied on the side of a Hudson Valley roadway. The incident took around 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 23, in Orange County. That's when the Town of Deerpark Police Department called state police for assistance after locating an unoccupied motorcycle on the shoulder of State Route 97 also known as the Hawk's Nest, said Trooper Steven Nevel. Orange County To Offer Youth Hunter Safety Course Teens or youth interested in learning all about hunter safety are encouraged to attend an upcoming hunter safety program sponsored by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Community Outreach Program. The ten-hour course will take place on April 16 and April 17, at the Senior Center in the Town of Deerpark. The course will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on both dates.
