A 40-year-old man will spend nearly a decade in prison after being sentenced for assaulting, stabbing, and sexually abusing a woman in Westchester, the District Attorney announced. Mount Vernon resident Hasarn Myke, age 40, was sentenced to nine years in state prison, following 15 years of post-release supervision after pleading to multiple violent felonies. A Northern Westchester man will spend years behind bars after being caught on a nanny cam taking sexually explicit photos of a child and scarring a family, the DA announced. Pleasantville resident John Passaretti was sentenced this week to a term of between two and six years in prison after pleading guilty to a dozen charges tied to a 2019 sexual abuse incident in Port Chester. Four Sex Offenders Living Next Door To Nursery School In Area, Police Say
A group of area lawmakers are up in arms after learning that four registered sex offenders were living next to a nursery school. The issue came to light on Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Orange County when the Town of Newburgh Police Department released a list of Level-2 and Level-3 sex offenders living in the Town of Newburgh. A search by the Hudson Valley Post found that four of the offenders were living in the Orange Lake Motel, just 300 feet from the Building Blocks Childcare Center in Newburgh. Former Teacher In Hudson Valley Admits To Sexually Abusing Student
A former teacher in the area will spend time behind bars and register as a sex offender after admitting to rape and other charges involving a teenage student. White Plains resident John Fraioli, 35, pleaded guilty this week to criminal sexual act and rape after assaulting his child victim on more than one occasion last year, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced. A 41-year-old Northern Westchester man will spend more than a decade behind bars and register as a sex offender after he admitted to sexually abusing a girl under the age of 13. Bedford Hills resident Julio Cortez was sentenced on Wednesday, Sept. 30 to 12 years in prison, followed by 15 years of post-release supervision after Cortez pleaded guilty in Westchester County Court to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child last year. Parents in New York can make use of an online tool to ensure that neighborhoods are safe before their kids head out to trick-or-treat on Halloween on Friday, Oct. 31. For the first time, thousands of registered sex offenders and paroled pedophiles are now allowed to vote at school polling places— but only after 7 p.m., according to state officials.
