Detective, Drug Task Force Supervisor In Rockland Dies At Age 31
A detective in the Hudson Valley has died at the age of 31. The Rockland County District Attorney's Office announced with "profound sadness" that detective and Drug Task Force Supervisor Xavier Fernandez died on Friday, Oct. 28. A cause of death has not been released. Fernandez worked as an NYPD officer and PBA representative for the 44th precinct until November 2021, the DA's Office said. A new state-run mass vaccination site has been announced for the Hudson Valley. The state will establish the site in Rockland County at Rockland Community College's Eugene Levy Fieldhouse, located at 145 College Road, in Suffern. Police Investigate Pair Who Asked Nanuet HS Student To Get On Small White Bus
A pair in a school bus were investigated after approaching a high school student in Rockland County and asking her to get on the bus. A senior at Nanuet High School said that she was approached by a small white school bus with no markings at approximately 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, near the intersection of Somerset Drive and Middletown Road in Pearl River. Rockland Community College has received what officials are calling the largest grant in the school’s 60-year history. Former Rockland Sheriff Thomas Goldrick Dies
Former Rockland County Sheriff Thomas J. Goldrick, known as the "Singing Sheriff," has died at the age of 93. Goldrick, who served as Sheriff from 1982 to 1991, is known for leading the department through some of its most difficult years including the trials of the Brinks robbery defendants, which had a significant impact on Rockland County, said the Rockland County Sheriff's Office. Hundreds From Area High Schools Attend RCC Construction Career Day
The 20th Annual Construction Career Day at Rockland Community College in Suffern drew more than 750 high school student attendees, according to a county release. The event consisted of representation from skilled workers of more than 15 different building and construction trades. Workers carried out hands-on demonstrations using tools and materials of their trade.
