Efforts to power tens of thousands of New York homes using the state’s first offshore wind farm have marked a major construction milestone. The South Fork Wind farm, located approximately 35 miles off the coast of Long Island, achieved its “steel in the water” milestone with the installation of the project’s first monopile foundation, Gov. Construction To Start On $530 Million Major Transmission Project In Hudson Valley
Construction on a $530 million project to improve energy transmission between Dutchess County and Rensselaer County has begun. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Wednesday, March 3 that the upgrade project, which is part of a larger $2 billion in transmission investments developed to bring clean energy to areas that require more power, has started. A school district in Northern Westchester has officially gone green. As of Friday, Feb. 1, all of the electricity used by the Katonah-Lewisboro School District will be from renewable sources, namely wind that is generated by turbines in Texas. The first all-electric school buses have rolled out on the streets of Westchester. The White Plains School District is testing out five buses that will be operated through National Express, marking the state's first foray into an electric fleet of buses.
