A sheriff's office in the Hudson Valley is mourning the loss of a retired sergeant and Army veteran who always followed his passions while also making time to serve his community. Putnam County resident Doug MacCrae of Brewster died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 17 at the age of 67, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday, April 19. Authorities are searching for whoever was responsible for abandoning two ferrets found inside a crate at a Hudson Valley Park and Ride parking lot, police said. The two ferrets were discovered inside a plastic crate in Putnam County on Wednesday morning, March 13 at the Park and Ride parking lot on Route 311 in Patterson, according to the Putnam County SPCA. Hudson Valley Man Admits To Killing Bat Inside Cave
A Hudson Valley man has admitted to animal cruelty charges for killing a bat in a Putnam County cave, SPCA officials announced. Putnam County SPCA Chief Ken Ross said that Caleb Shuk, age 20, of Philipstown, has pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty following an incident in May last year that led to his arrest. Shuk was arrested on May 4, 2021, and charged with torturing a bat resting against a rock wall in the Sunken Mines Caves location in Putnam County. Man Accused Of Killing Girlfriend's Four Pets In Hudson Valley
A 27-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend's pets over the course of a year, authorities announced. Matthew Savinovich, of the borough of Norwood in Bergen County, New Jersey, was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 6 by officers from the Putnam County SPCA for allegedly killing three chihuahuas and a ferret that belonged to his ex in Lake Peekskill.
