Route 9W Stretch To Close In Rockland County For Maintenace Work Motorists should anticipate delays and detours when Route 9W closes in both directions for maintenance. The State Department of Transportation said the closure will take place between Shadyside Avenue and Hickey Street in Orangetown from 6 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22,  weather permitting. ID Released For Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Hudson Valley Roadway A pedestrian who was hit and killed crossing a busy Hudson Valley roadway has been identified by police. Rockland County resident Patrick O'Neill, age 54, was killed around 8:20 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, on Route 303 in West Nyack. According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police, O'Neill was found lying on the right shoulder of northbound Rt. 303, Peters said. Orangetown Police allegedly observed a 2007 Acura speeding on Route 303 in the Hamlet of Tappan on Wednesday, Feb. 27 around 5 a.m. After making a traffic stop, the officer identified the driver as 43-year-old Leopoldo Monterroso of New City. Further investigation revealed that Monterroso was allegedly operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs. Monterroso was arrested and transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters.
