Rosen was born Samuel Rosenblum, in Germany, and his parents moved to Brooklyn when he was 2.
When he was a kid, he attended many Rangers games and even taped himself doing commentary, according to Wikipedia.
Rosen is perhaps best known for his play-by-play announcing for Rangers games, and he's now worked for the MSG Network for over 30 years.
In spring 2014, the network honored him for his 30 years with the company, playing a video called "This One Will Last a Lifetime: 30 Years of Sam Rosen" during the intermission of that Rangers-Islanders game. You can watch it on YouTube here.
In 2008, he was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
