Police, in a sting operation on Friday, Dec. 11, had targeted eight local businesses – including stores, restaurants, taverns, and gas stations.

Their undercover operative was only able to buy alcohol at one of them, a 7-11 on Route 9W, police said.

An arrest was made at the store, and the defendant, who police did not identify, was issued a summons and is to appear in Stony Point Justice Court at a later date.

Police said that the seven other businesses targeted in the operation were in compliance and did not sell to the underage undercover operatives: They were: Lynch’s Restaurant, Halligan’s Pub, Fireside Restaurant, Mobil Gas on Route 9W, Shell Gas at 9W and Main Street; Food Mart/Gas at Route 9W and Washburns Lane; and Stony’s Food and News in Stony Ridge Plaza.

The sting operation was conducted in conjunction with the Rockland County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, police said.
