Dillon Ortiz, 30, along with two others, entered a home on Route 9W through an unlocked door at approximately 3:30 p.m. on March 12, 2015.

The defendant entered the home with a small baseball bat concealed in the sleeve of his hooded sweatshirt. Upon entering the home, one of the suspects began attacking the homeowner's son, who was home at the time with a friend, the district attorney said.

During the attack, Ortiz struck the friend in the head with the bat several times.
