Michael Slapp, 31, of Fort Montgomery, was charged with DWI after being stopped by a deputy around 1:25 a.m., for an equipment violation. When the deputy approached Slapp he could tell he was intoxicated. Subsequent tests showed Slapp was driving with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent, said Sheriff Louis Falco.
Slapp was also charged with driving with a suspended registration and possession of marijuana. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 24.
Deputies also arrested men from North Bergen, N.J., and Nanuet on Sunday during a DWI checkpoint in Spring Valley, Falco said.
Jose Hernandez-Rivas, 24, of North Bergen, was stopped at 12:43 a.m. in an intoxicated condition, deputies said. He was processed at the Stop DWI mobile headquarters and released.
Matthew Epstein, 32, of Nanuet, was charged at 2:58 a.m. after being stopped during the operation. He was processed at the checkpoint and released.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on May 23.
