Man Charged With Vehicular Assault After Head-On Rockland Crash Injures 5

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Five people were injured during a vehicle crash on Sunday when a man driving drunk crossed over a yellow line and slammed head-on into another car in Pearl River, said the Orangetown Police.

Kevin Thompson, 27, of Hillsdale, N.J., who is hospitalized with serious injuries, was charged with felony vehicular assault, felony driving without a license, and DWI, following the crash which occurred around 5;45 p.m. on West Washington Ave., said Capt. Don Butterworth.

According to police, the five people injured included Thompson, a passenger in his car, and three occupants of the other vehicle. Another person was slightly injured, Butterworth said.

The Orangetown Police were assisted on scene by the Pearl River Fire Department, Pearl River Ambulance Corps, South Orangetown Ambulance Corp, Nanuet Community Ambulance Corps, Ramapo Faist, and Medic 21 and 5.
