Oliver's shield and ID card have been taken away, and the officer is suspended indefinitely, pending the Stamford police's investigation, said Clarkstown Officer Peter Walker. Walker also said Clarkstown Police will also conduct an investigation internally of any criminal conduct while on the force.
Stamford police said the woman showed up at police headquarters with large red marks around her throat, a little before midnight Sunday saying her ex-boyfriend had just strangled her and smashed her phone, the newspaper reported.
The woman identified her attacker as Oliver, 45, a 10-year veteran of the Clarkstown Police Department, said the Stamford Advocate.
Oliver turned himself in to police Monday and was charged with two counts each of second-degree burglary, strangulation and threatening, and single counts of unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and interfering with an emergency call, the story said. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond, said the Stamford Advocate.
