State Sen. David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester), president of the conference, said that applications for the 2016 New York Italian-American Conference of State Legislators are available for submission and that applications can be found on his website at nysenate.gov

"Given the high costs of college, every opportunity must be made by local students and their working families to meet their required expenses with scholarships, as well as with student loans, available financial aid, and personal contributions,” said Carlucci. “I highly recommend that students in Rockland and Westchester Counties apply for these prestigious scholarships offered by the conference so that they may hopefully secure as much extra help with their expenses as possible."

The mission of the conference is to highlight Italian-American contributions to New York and beyond, in all aspects of society, including literature, the arts, architecture and politics. The conference also actively works to dispel negative stereotypes of Italian-Americans.

There will be four $2,500 scholarships available, two for academic and two for athletic accomplishments. All applications must be submitted by April 11.

For more information about the scholarships, contact Carlucci’s office at (845)-623-3627.
