The new state budget has earmarked $700 million of its $147 billion total for the state Thruway Authority, according to lohud.com.
Most of the money is expected to go toward improvements for the Tappan Zee Bridge, lohud.com said.
According to Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office, the third increase in funding over the last four years will push off a Thruway toll increase until at least 2020, reported lohud.com.
The original proposal included a $300 million tax break for frequent Thruway riders but was rejected by legislators, lohud.com noted.
