Rockland Motorists Contending With Slick, Slippery Roadways

An overnight accumulation of snow and ice in much of the area has resulted in slippery roads Tuesday morning as the mixed bag of precipitation changes over to rain in Rockland.

No serious accidents have been reported, but traffic is moving slowly on most main roadways, including the Tappan Zee Bridge span, with slick conditions reported.

A 7 a.m. accident on southbound Route 17 is causing stop-and-go delays in Ramsey, N.J., at Crescent Avenue/Lake Street, with backups up to Airmount Avenue.

A Winter Weather Advisory that began at 8 p.m. Monday will last until 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rockland, the National Weather Service said.

Rain will continue through around 1 p.m. Tuesday with the high temperature reaching the mid 40s. There will be areas of patchy fog after 3 p.m.
