The environmental organization Riverkeeper has begun a letter writing campaign online to the National Marine Fisheries Service to persuade the federal agency to take action on the New NY Bridge construction, according to Time Warner Cable News.

What's at stake according to Riverkeeper is endangered sturgeon reportedly being killed because of the bridge construction, says the article.

The New NY Bridge is being built to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River.

The group reportedly says it will file a lawsuit because the sturgeon deaths are in violation of the federal Endangered Species Act, according to Time Warner.

Forty-six sturgeon have been found dead, the article states.

The Thruway Authority and New NY Bridge team are reportedly aiding researchers in learning more about the possible impacts while the bridge is under construction, by tagging and tracking the sturgeon, the report says.
