Opening festivities are from 2-4 p.m. with free open skating with Santa (ice skates can be rented for $4). The event includes skaters from the Skating Club of New York & the U.S. Figure Skating Association performing a show at 4:45 p.m., followed by a tree-lighting ceremony at 5:15 p.m. A second session of skating begins at 6 p.m.

“This season, we will be featuring a full-size hockey rink located on the first-base side of the field so teams can play hockey and their fans can sit right up close to the action,” said Michelle Antosca, director of the Town of Ramapo's Parks and Recreation Department. “The rink is also available for rent by community groups, schools, not-for-profits and businesses for unique winter events. There are also plenty of open skating opportunities through February 2016.”

There are several special events planned throughout the season.

Here is a list of a few upcoming special days:

  • Jan. 11: Nyack/Tappan Zee Vs. Fox Lane (4:30 p.m.)
  • Jan. 30: Clarkstown North (5 and 7 p.m.)
  • Feb. 2: Pearl River High School (5 p.m.)

The ice skating park features a large warming tent adjacent to the rink and drinks and snacks available for purchase during open skating.

A men’s hockey league also is being formed. For more information or a complete schedule, visit www.RamapoParks.org.
