NYACK, N.Y. – A teacher and former Nyack resident was killed Wednesday at a homeless shelter in New York City, according to lohud.com.

Deven Black, a former teacher at Upper Nyack Elementary School, was found stabbed multiple times at a homeless shelter in East Harem, said lohud.com.

Black had suffered from mental illness for years and was staying at the homeless shelter while still working as a teacher, reported lohud.com.

Police were still searching for his killer, lohud.com noted.
