NEW CITY, N.Y. – A leading Rockland County Democrat has filed a defamation lawsuit claiming his reputation was damaged by a Facebook post written last year by Republican Rockland County Executive Ed Day, according to lohud.com.
Rockland County Legislature Chairman Alden Wolfe of Suffern is accusing Day of libel in a late September Facebook post last year, according to the report, which stated that Wolfe alleges he was publicly and falsely accused of altering an email to “indicate the county executive was instituting a new policy to thwart legislators’ attempts to attain information from county departments.”
Citing the lawsuit, which was filed in state Supreme Court in New City on Aug. 16, lohud.com reported that Wolfe accused Day of using a Facebook post to say that Wolfe circulated a “forgery” that “deliberately misrepresented the facts.”
In a recent statement responding to Wolfe’s lawsuit, Day described the move to take him to court as a “politically motivated stunt.”
