Crash Brings Down Utility Pole, Transformers In Congers

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Drivers should avoid Route 9W in Congers Sunday afternoon following a crash that has resulted in the closure of a stretch of the roadway.

A car hit a utility pole earlier in the afternoon and three electrical transformers came down between Lakewood Drive and Route 303. Oil spilled onto the roadway, authorities said.

Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services is on the scene, along with Clarkstown police.

There have been no reports of serious injuries.
