ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Imagine saving several hundred dollars each year without having to do anything out of the ordinary. For Rockland County residents and Suez customers, earning extra green is as simple as going green, thanks to an innovative new conservation program designed to save both money and the environment.
Toilets, showers and washing machines are often the biggest water users inside the home, accounting for up to 75 percent of indoor water usage. While turning off the faucet and taking shorter showers can help curtail usage, homeowners can face an uphill battle if their house is equipped with outdated faucets, appliances and fixtures. By upgrading to newer, high efficiency models, customers can instantly take advantage of sizable rebates, as well as experience considerable savings on future water bills.
“The opportunity for customers to earn substantial rebates and lower their utility bills, we hope, will help inspire people to replace their old washing machines, toilets, shower heads and other household devices with water and energy efficient appliances,” said Chris Graziano, vice president and general manager of Suez operations in New York.
For example, when customers purchase a new, high efficiency washing machine -- which in addition to cleaning clothes lighting fast, saves over $50 in annual water charges -- homeowners will receive a $100 instant rebate. Residents looking to save $65 or more annually can take advantage of a $75 rebate on toilets, as well as a $15 rebate on new shower heads. The goal, in addition to helping homeowners save money, is also to preserve resources for the next generation of Rockland County residents.
“Our program is designed to help customers conserve water today and preserve natural resources for tomorrow,” said Graziano. “Our customers already understand the importance of conservation and practice it as part of their daily lives. We believe this program will bring Rockland to the next level of water and energy conservation.”
Customers can purchase devices online and receive an instant rebate, or buy an item at a retail outlet and apply for a rebate by completing and mailing a paper rebate application form.
